Planning permission granted for HBD redevelopment in the Jewellery Quarter

HBD’s Cornwall House redevelopment located within the Jewellery Quarter is to be transformed into a residential-led scheme after planning permission was awarded by Birmingham City Council.

Cornwall House, designed by BPN Architects and known as “Setl” will comprise of 50 one-bed and 51 two-bed apartments across 6-12 storey building that will include two commercial units on the ground floor.

The city centre scheme will feature a courtyard, workspaces, lounges and a gym. The upper floors of the six-storey building will include 275sq m rooftop garden.

Simon Raiye, director at HBD, said: “Setl will replace a disused site with an attractive, modern new development that will provide new homes with an emphasis on quality and community. It’s a prominent spot in one of the city’s most historic areas and the design reflects that – we’ve worked hard to create a development that is fitting for its location, will enhance the area and sit comfortably alongside its neighbours.

‘It’s an exciting project and we look forward to getting on site.”
