BEORMA QUARTER showcases incredible scope of development at Building Brum event
The gravity of the impending completion of BEORMA QUARTER is continuing to be felt across the West Midlands commercial property industry and wider business community. Comprising over 152,000 sq ft of premium office space, 125 luxury apartments, as well as impressive retail opportunities, BEORMA QUARTER is currently the region’s only brand-new, mixed-use development. Because of this, Salhia’s new landmark tower, which will stand opposite Birmingham’s iconic Bullring, is receiving a steady stream of industry attention. Most recently, the popular events series, Building Brum, chose to spotlight BEORMA and its construction at their most recent engagement.
Building on a longstanding foundation
With the event taking place in Digbeth, housed in the charmingly industrial confines of EH Smith Design Centre, it was clear that the culture of the local area remains core to the values of both BEORMA and Building Brum. Opening the speeches for the afternoon was Project Director, Majid Awan, representing global property and construction consultancy, Gleeds. As lead consultant for the development since the end of Phase One in 2015, Awan outlined how Gleeds have successfully delivered cost management services, building surveying and CDM advice. This is in addition to building stakeholder relationships and tendering and procuring the development’s main contractor. This decade-long process has demonstrated the effectiveness of significant attention to detail and quality, which will undoubtedly prove fruitful when BEORMA QUARTER is completed this year.
An emphasis on quality
BEORMA QUARTER has become synonymous with exceptional standards, city centre lifestyles and forward-thinking business. But it’s only through the quality of the construction and strategic logistics that this is possible. Speaking on behalf of construction solutions specialists, Midgard JRL, Build Director, David Sizer showed just how much planning and investment has been injected into the project to make it a reality. Most notably, the tower’s impressive size at 28 storeys meant it required the largest slipform in company history.
Having seamlessly overcome challenges in waterproofing, fire safety and speed of design, Sizer was keen to outline progress on the commercial fit out and gym construction – both of which will adhere to the same level of scrutiny and skill seen throughout the development.
Birmingham’s incredible past, present and future
To complete the proceedings, Development Director, Matt Butler, representing Axiom Bridge and Salhia Real Estate Company, gave attendees an overview of what this project means for Digbeth and Birmingham. Covering everything from the history of the area and its current commercial opportunities to the unprecedented level of investment and upcoming third phase of BEORMA QUARTER’s development, this was a fantastic way to end the event. “This is such a brilliant time to be in Birmingham,”
Matt Butler began. “The region is set to benefit from major regenerative, residential and commercial investments. And as today’s event has shown, BEORMA will sit right at the centre of this as a development that’s high-quality, sustainable and perfectly curated for modern business.”
